Fall and Spring Lawn Renovation
Over-seeding
The first step is to aerate or verti-cut the lawn improving soil for better ‘seed to soil’ contact. Next, we seed the lawn with either blue grass or fescue.
Yard Overhaul
The first step in the process is spraying the lawn, either the entire yard, front or back, with a complete kill herbicide (Round Up). About a week later, Brummel Lawn will come back and seed the yard with premium seed and fertilizer. The lawn must stay moist for the seed to germinate, fill in and promote good root growth. The success of grass growth with a lawn renovation depends greatly upon the combined efforts of the homeowner and Brummel Lawn.
Spot Seeding
Brummel lawn will review your entire yard to identify areas that need new grass seed. We begin by raking areas those areas and applying grass seed. Watering the new seed on a regular bases will guarantee proper growth.
Lawn Aeration Or Core Aeration
Lawn aeration is the secret weapon in making your lawn healthy. We recommend doing this in the fall, but can perform this service in the spring as well. Aeration involves making holes in the lawn either by pushing a rod into it, or by “coring” (extracting a plug of soil). By aerating your lawn, you provide the following benefits to your lawn and its root system:
-
-
- Oxygen gets to the roots and the soil allowing it to breathe
- Organic fertilizers and nutrients get access to the root system
- Water is able to better soak the soil and reach the root system
- Helps to break up thatch
- Tight, compacted soil is loosened up, allowing the root system to grow
- Reduces the risk of fungus
-
Verti-cutting
We recommend mowing the lawn shorter than usual. Next, the technicians will run a verti-cutter over the lawn to remove the thatch. After it’s brought to the surface, Brummel Lawn will remove the thatch at an additional cost.
